I have a dream August 28, 1963 on October 15, 1969 I marched in the Moratorium to End the War in Vietnam, I had drawn a very high number in the Selective Service Lottery* & no longer had a dog in the race, but my eyeballs had been burnt after night after night for years of televised atrocities. somethings never change

A far cry from 14 village drive Mount Carmel Indiana and even stranger when compared to the empty dead streets of Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan two years after the 1967 Race RiotsSpark: A police raid on an unlicensed after-hours bar (a "Blind Pig") in a Black neighborhood.Context: Part of the "Long, Hot Summer" of urban unrest, with existing issues of segregation, police brutality, and economic hardship.Impact: Over 40 deaths (mostly Black), 1,200 injuries, massive property damage; involved National Guard and U.S. Army troops, with police and guardsmen shooting at civilians. Everyone was nervous, all the time. One day as I returned from classes, I was pushed aside by firefighters who broke through a door right in front of me and then rushed into the apartment, picked up a couch and threw it through the apartment window into the inner well of the complex (I went inside and looked) it took awhile for it to sink in. How close to a disaster I had been, how synchronized the firefighters moved going straight to the couch and in one single motion throw it through the window. How dangerous a sudden rush of oxygen to that room was given its conditions. Things tend to blow up!My roommate wanted to become a sports reporter and practiced by reporting into a pencil eraser early morning hockey games watching a 6" B&W TV. I thought everyone was crazy. unless each day you look for the Door into Summer after a while you forget to see the magic, the beauty. Carmel Indiana to Vancouver British Columbia was a wormhold experience taking US back 20 years when life had been simpler and cities cleaner and safer. Dad's income allowed us to live in what were to be called suburbs. I had no idea how racist I was, black men picked up our garbage and a black woman died while cleaning one of our bathrooms, Father McDonald , a hugh pockfaced man came over and gave her last rites barely fitting into the room with her on the floor. One day I was sent to answer the phone at the rectory while he ran errands.
a fluxNode makes even more sense after an shit-just-happens event where your local world just fell apart due to an unavoidable geologic, climatic, or pandemic event; or just another big rock from Mars. A world in which suddenly, there is no pipeline supply chain; there is no access to the outside world, and help is not expected anytime soon. the internet removes the advantage of location in the business process
