The Counterfeit Safeguard at Civilizational Scale

The argument of this essay is that the United States constitutional order is the counterfeit safeguard operating at the largest scale in human history, and that this is not a recent corruption of a sound design but a property present at ratification

Gazing into the President Bone Spurs reflecting pool, immune to irony and devoid of self-awareness, this rogue MAGA elephant herd consumed all the pool-aid while intoxicated on its own supply.  However, nothing can quench the insatiable thirst of King Bitcoin Midas.  Now, this bag of pond scum is attacking everything in the FPTP swamp.  Whatever benefits this 250-year-old counterfeit democracy has bestowed, the combination has become a cancerous growth that has metastasized to every corner of the globe.

the closed loop

the system in question is not a democracy with problems but a closed loop — a control system whose feedback channels have been captured by the quantity they were meant to regulate — and closed loops of this kind cannot be repaired from inside, because every repair must pass through the captured channels.

Wake up, Neo! The Matrix has you!

The American political and financial systems are a collapsing Jenga tower of tipping points within a global metacrisis. This crisis is fuelled by modernity’s outdated worldview, including extreme individualism, reductionism, and a separation from nature.  The US Constitution itself is a contributing factor.

In 1776, the Thirteen Colonies declared independence from Great Britain, but at that time, an estimated 20% of the American population was enslaved.  The American Civil War concluded on April 9, 1865.  Seven years later, the Amnesty Act removed office-holding restrictions for most former Confederates.  These pardons enabled former Confederate leaders to regain political power in the South, where they quickly dismantled many of the political and civil gains made by newly enfranchised Black Americans during Reconstruction. 

The Canadian Opening

Construction requires a site, and the argument here is that the site is Canada — not out of patriotic reflex, but because a specific convergence of constitutional inheritance, present federal policy, and unfinished national business makes this country, at this moment, the only G7 jurisdiction where all four subsystems of a democratic architecture are simultaneously open to design.
